Back Pain

Back Pain Affects 80% Of Our Population

Understanding the Complexities of Back Pain

Why the Pain You Feel May Not Be the Problem

Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek treatment. Many patients come to us thinking the source of their discomfort is exactly where they feel it, but the reality is that back pain is rarely that simple.

Pain Can Be Complex.

Pain is your body’s alarm system. It tells you something is wrong, but it does not always tell you where the problem actually is. In fact, back pain may be the result of dysfunctions or imbalances elsewhere in the body.

Here’s Why:

  • Referred Pain: Sometimes pain in the back is actually caused by an issue in a different region like the hip, abdomen, or even an internal organ. The nerves that serve different parts of the body can overlap, creating sensations far from the actual source of the issue.
  • Radicular Pain: This type of pain travels along a nerve, often stemming from irritation or compression in the spine (facet syndrome, herniated disc, etc). It can show up as sharp, shooting pain down the legs or into the arms, even if your back feels fine.
  • Myofascial Pain Syndromes: Tight, irritable areas within muscles known as trigger points can cause localized pain or refer pain to other regions, making it feel like the problem is in the back when the root issue lies in a different muscle group.
  • Compensation Patterns: When you move in a guarded or altered way to avoid pain, your body finds workarounds. Over time, these compensation patterns can place strain on otherwise healthy areas leading to new injuries and chronic discomfort.

Don’t Chase the Pain. Find the Cause.

At New Heights Chiropractic and Rehabilitation, we believe in getting to the root cause of your pain, not just treating symptoms. That is why we take a full-body approach to assessment and care. Whether your back pain is due to muscular imbalance, nerve irritation, poor movement habits, or past injuries, our goal is to uncover the real issue and help you move better, feel better, and function at your best.

Why Our Approach Works

We use advanced tools and clinical expertise to identify dysfunctional movement patterns and areas of restriction that often go overlooked. From soft tissue therapy to functional rehab and corrective strategies, our treatments are designed to create long-term results, not just temporary relief.

You Deserve More Than Symptom Relief

If you have been chasing pain without lasting results, it is time to change the approach. Let’s work together to determine what is really holding you back and build a plan to restore true, lasting health and performance!
